  Stefano Scodanibbio
Composer, Contrabassist

Stefano Scodanibbio is both a contrabassist/soloist and a composer. He became known for his virtuosic performance, and he used new playing technique to enrich it with previously unknown timbres that John Cage characterized as “absolutely magic.” He worked with Luigi Nono and Giacinto Scelsi and performed at all the large international music festivals; he was selected for the International Society of Contemporary Music Festivals in 1990, 1993, and 2002. In 1983 he founded the Rassegna di Nuova Musica, a festival for New Music that takes place annually in Macerata, Italy. In 2003 he participated in Im Spiegel wohnen at the Forum Neues Musiktheater. In 2006 his music theater piece Il cielo sulla terra had world premiere at the Forum Neues Musiktheater.
