Andreas Fischer studied music pedagogy and singing in Stuttgart and Vienna. While still a student his interest in contemporary music and close collaboration with composers became central aspects of his work. In 1986 he became a member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and has since participated in numerous world premieres. He is also a much sought after partner of composers and conductors as a freelance singer and ensemble director as well. In recent years he has worked with, among others, Luciano Berio, Pierluigi Billone, Andreas Dohmen, Péter Eötvös, Brian Ferneyhough, Manuel Hidalgo, Helmut Lachenmann, Olga Neuwirth, Lucia Ronchetti, Salvatore Sciarrino, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. In 2004 he participated in Last Desire at the Forum Neues Musiktheater.
