  Tom Hall
Composer, Guitarist

Tom Hall is active as a composer and performer of electroacoustic music, and performs with Sam Hayden in the laptop duo butterflyCut, using software programmed in the open-source real-time audio synthesis software SuperCollider. He is also a member, as a laptop performer, of the electric ensemble [rout]. Tom is a graduate of the University of Sussex, where he studied composition with Martin Butler, and La Trobe University, Melbourne, where he studied with Keith Humble and John McCaughey. Tom's music has been performed throughout England, mainland Europe and Australia. Also a guitarist, his playing appears on a number of singer-songwriter Lucie Thorne's recent CDs. Tom's teaching and research interests include algorhythmic composition, sonification, multimedia work and the music of Morton Feldman and Graham Hair. In 2006 he participated in Hearing Voices of the NewMediaPocketOpera at the Forum Neues Musiktheater on the occasion of the ISCM World New Music Festival 2006.
