Nicholas Till is both an artist in and scholar on the theater. As a director he has had engagements at the Glyndebourne Opera, the Royal Opera, and the English National Opera. His writings on opera and musical theater treat subjects such as Mozart and the Enlightenment (1992), various essays on musical theater, and a critical manifesto for his own work titled “I Don’t Mind If Something’s Operatic, Just as Long as It’s Not Opera.” Nicholas Till is a member of the artistic directorship of the experimental musical theater company Post-Operative Productions and director of the Centre for Research in Opera and Music Theatre at the University of Sussex. In 2006 he was the artistic director of Hearing Voices of the NewMediaPocketOpera project at the Forum Neues Musiktheater on the occasion of the ISCM World New Music Festival 2006.
