Born in Lörrach. Studied in Freiburg (Henkel), Amsterdam (Bylsma), und Fiesole (Baldovino). In addition to ensemble work, is regularly active as a soloist with various orchestras in Germany and abroad. Numerous CDs of twentieth-century chamber music and solo works (by W. Rihm, Feldman, Krenek, Lachenmann, Dallapiccola, Sciarrino, K. Huber, and others). Lecturer at Darmstädter Ferienkurse since 1998. Member of the Hauptausschuss des Deutschen Musikrats since spring 1999. Founding member of ensemble recherche. In April 2004 Infinito nero by Salvatore Sciarrino at Forum Neues Musiktheater.
