  Leonardo Romoli
Video Artist

Leonardo Romoli, was born in Florence in 1972.
He graduated in art restoration at the Palazzo Spinelli Institute for Art and Restoration.
Between 1995 an 1997 he worked in the Dambra restoration workshop in Florence, undertaking restoration work for the city’s Superintendency of Artistic and Cultural Heritage. During this period he continued his own personal research into visual expression, working on painting and honing his technique in tempera grassa and in oils.
From 1997 he worked for the Mediared company of Florence as head of communications. Websites and promotional films form the core activity of Mediared, which always been at the forefront in experimentation and in the production of artistic works that combine art andscience.
At this time his visual research shifted from the classic iconography of old paintings to the dynamism of video, and in particular to the relationship between image and sound – a representation of the aesthetic that is a constant in all his work. This is when he produced his first musical videos, in which the relationship between image and sound is not determined by rhythm alone, being also an expression of emotion and of narrative. His videos have been presented at international exhibitions and competitions.
