  Jürgen Strauss

Jürgen Strauss, born in 1965, completed his training as a lab technician in physics at Landis & Gyr in Zug. Within the field of electroacoustics he has specialized in converters and spatial acoustics, and in 1996 he founded Strauss Elektroakustik GmbH. Jürgen Strauss has developed a series of different speakers for home audio companies. In collaboration with concert presenters he has created high-quality PA amplification systems for international artists such as Michel Camillo, Monthy Alexander, and the Dave Brubeck Quartet. In the field of professional studio technology Jürgen Strauss has, among other tasks, equipped twelve mastering studios in the new Sony Music Studios in Tokyo with midfield monitors he developed himself and was in charge of directing the sound aesthetics for the fine-tuning procedures. Since 2002 he has been teaching sound aesthetics and electro technology at the Zentrum für professionelle Audiotechnik in Aarau. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Jürgen Strauss has complemented his interest in high-quality audio technology with research into questions of philosophy, aesthetics, and the history of science. He is responsible for sound design at the Institut für Computermusik und Sound Technologie in Zürich. In 2006 he was lecturer at the Ambisonics workshop at Forum Neues Musiktheater.
