Hans Thomalla pursues the concept of the “foreign” or “strange” back to its roots in ancient myth. His new piece examines traditional texts for the presence of the tension—basic to myth—between archaic physical expression and the constructed conceptuality of language. Using the figures of Medea and Jason as his example, he plays these concepts against each other, feeling his way along the deconstructed textual and musical primary sources toward a new definition of meanings.

The production team will be available for discussion after each performance.

With the kind support of Akademie Schloss Solitude.
