Jason Freeman’s piece Prior Art (2004) was composed during his scholarship stay at Schloss Solitude. In it he transformed a distance recollection of a Verdi overture and an encounter with lost sheep and the police into a sonic journey for ten performers.
In unbreakable line. hinged waist Jennifer Walshe too processed sounds from her surroundings, including the heating system of her apartment in Chicago. She transformed conventional performance techniques in order to produce new sound variations, for example, by having the pianist play on a closed keyboard or by using sounds “alien” to the context.
The Israel composer Avi Tchamni, who lives in the United States composed especially for this concert a new piece for large ensemble with live electronics: soixante et un espaces.

Jason Freeman (b. 1977) studied music at Yale University and Columbia University. He works as a composer and media artist and since 2005 he has been Assistant Professor for Music at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Jason Freeman has a scholarship at the Akademie for 2004–5.
