[From NME, 4 Feb 1994] "The Orb have delayed the release of their new single Pommes Fritz by three weeks following a row with their former label, Big Life Records. The indie label re-issued the single Perpetual Dawn last week - their second Orb back catalogue release in nine weeks - although the band claim Big Life had promised that they would not interfere with The Orb's future. A spokesman for the ambient duo said: "They find this an absurd situation. After 18 months of being prevented from releasing a new record, they now find that the label continue to hold them up by insisting on continuous explotation of pop radio mixes that bear no relation to where The Orb sound is now. "No doubt when the new Orb record is ready for release, they will try to cash in on The Orb's name yet again by repressing more old singles from their past. The Orb would like to apologise for this sorry state of affairs" A Big Life spokesperson said the label is suprised by the duo's complaints, as all the re-releases have been done with the knowledge of both Alex Paterson and partner Kristian Weston. The label even made cuts to Perpetual Dawn promo at Paterson's request, she says. Pommes Fritz is now released on April 4, with a new studio album due on May 3. "
