Anyway, I think this is what you're referring to, taken from Electronics & Music Maker February 1985: "On the pop front, Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk was exceedingly reticent about plans for the band's longawaited new album. Two days of gentle questioning elicited the following information: it's called Techno-Pop (we knew that), they're still working on it (hard to believe), and they're not using anything you can't buy in any music store. We did find out that they're using a Fairlight, though Schneider himself strenously denied this." I can't remember where this report was taken from - it was two or three pages, and I only made a copy of the last one... I think it was some electronic music fair in Paris; maybe I have some more info at home about it. I don't own the magazine, but I know someone who does... (It also had interviews with Laurie Anderson and Jean-Michel Jarre, that's the reason I borrowed it in the first place.) Michael Rother (he of NEU! and Harmonia) was briefly a member of Kraftwerk and Cluster had a loose association with KW in the early 70s. In fact, I've always thought their "Zuckerzeit" album paralleled "Ralf & Florian" in a lot of ways -- very heavy on the electronic percussion.
